What a success - the learners were hooked from the start and could not get enough of the planting and monitoring growth - parents and whanau supported us too. We even got tomatoes recently. Our corn suffered too much loving care and died sadly but we are following up on the different types of corn in our science unit this term.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Measurement, calendars, recipe's, home grown vs takeaway costs (time, money, effort)
We grew little garden seeds, investigated and created healthy eating alternatives to popular takeaway dishes, and lunch snacks. We analysed the school lunches and discussed what ingredients we could change/add to make them better. We measured the growth of each plant, and collected seeds from the fully grown plants in Feb and worked out how many new plants we could grow and how much space they would need at school.
