How has the kit impacted you and your students feelings toward nature? Students understood a lot better why we should respect and appreciate the environment. They began to appreciate more the nature space around our class and understood the places they could find certain things within the environment.
What were the benefits of using Nature as a context for learning? Students were able to immerse in themselves within the nature around them. It was an engaging and enjoyable kit which most learners seemed to take something away from.

How has the kit impacted you and your students feelings toward nature? My students already love nature, but being able to grow their own Kowhai trees to donate to the community was awesome. If anything, it has strengthened their love and understanding of nature and how we need to look after it.
What were the benefits of using Nature as a context for learning? This learning was able to be translated into multiple curriculum areas. Report writing, measurement, Science - the living world, Social Studies, and reading about kowhai trees and other native plants in NZ.

“Room 7 students studied native trees in New Zealand. Some students were able to identify somr native trees, while they went hunting with their whanau. In class student did a poll which native tree was the popular in class and then syndicate Classroom results was 12 students thought Kauri was the best because of it size, 6 students thought Pohutukawa trees was the best because of the red flowers and 3 students thought kowhai tree was the best. After their findings in peers students had to represent their report to the class. A hard kit to start off. Apologise no photos taken.”
