How has the kit impacted you and your students feelings toward nature? They are more observant - the Notice cards were cool - it has been super rainy so we didn't get to leave them out! The kids have been keen and attentive to our Kowhai seeds...possibly too attentive to watering...as the pots are mouldy...ooops.

What were the benefits of using Nature as a context for learning? Relevance to day to day kids lives. Relevance to world sustainability and climate change crisis. Fun and hands on.

“We really enjoyed our Doc Nature Spaces Kit and working through each aspect of the kit and all the tasks that were included. Learning about the life cycle of the Kōwhai seed was really interesting for my students and it tied in well as a follow on from our Native bush studies pre-covid and lock down.”

“This kit was good, however it admittedly got pushed to the back burner after covid came along. We were able to get through some of the work and the students enjoyed getting out and about in the nature when the weather allowed. It was very hands on and We enjoyed how varied the learning opportunities were. I will continue working on the kit and a lot of what I have done with my class will be useful for future years as well.”

“The beginning stages of this kit was great. Hands on planting and getting samples etc. Interest in the kit did die down unfortunately and it was harder to keep students engaged to the end. The teacher notes aren’t as straight forward meaning more time is spent unpacking what the tasks really are. Pinterest links not overly stimulating.”
