This was a nice addition to our Kaitiaki programme at school. It was quite well structured which was good and involved different skills for the children to learn. The Kowhai seedlings are going to be transferred into our nursery and then replanted into the school bush.

Thanks you for this kit. We really enjoyed the learning here. We built a relationship with our local biodiversity group and identified areas that would benefit from plantings. W gifted our seedlings to homes in our community and areas of reserve and with the biodiversity group we will be able to track the increase in birdlife! Thank you for your excellent planning and products. We are grateful!

My students enjoyed many aspects of the Nature Space kit. Getting out into nature was important as the kids were able to gather information to use in different contexts. We particularly enjoyed the poem LISTENING and learning more about the night sky and stars.

The children were enthusiastic and engaged right from the start. They loved the hands on experiences, resources and activities that related to the world around them. The children gained a sense of belonging and appreciation of the Nature Spaces in our school that extended into our community. It was the perfect opportunity to extend on our team Inquiry and to get to know our own backyard better and the creatures that inhabit it. The moon stages integrated nicely with Matariki. We have decided to wait for warmer weather to plant the seeds but are looking forward to continuing this unit of study into the term. The children are very excited about having the opportunity to nurture and watch their own seeds grow. Thank you for putting together a fantastic kit.

I loved the concept of this kit and my class was really excited. It was really great to be able to explore in depth one of our favourite areas of our school community. The mindfulness aspect of the kit was especially helpful and enjoyed. Unfortunately, our kowhai seedlings grew nothing but mould, and a lot of activities were very dependant on the weather, which, let’s face it, at this time of the year in the Waikato isn’t fantastic. For a first timer with School Kits this was a great introduction and certainly helped celebrate our beautiful local environment.

This was a great kit and we loved learning about the kowhai seed and it’s life cycle. Firstly thank you so much for the amazing kit. First I introduced it with a surprise writing task we unwrapped the pot and the seed and wrote some amazing stories after reading a book related to it as well. Unfortunately our nature space hasn’t turned out so well. Our area had torrential rainfall and some flooding and this really affected us as well as the surrounding areas in Whangarei. However we will replant and have another go. The biggest part was the planning and the kids ideas. We still have this so that is all that matters for another go. We love all the ideas and this has been a great kit for us to use.

An interesting kit that provided a great basis for discussions and learning. Students were excited to plant the kowhai seeds - the pots seemed to go mouldy very easily.

We loved our Doc Nature Spaces Kit and thoroughly enjoyed working through each aspect of the kit and all the tasks that were included. Learning about the life cycle of the Kōwhai seed was really interesting for my students and it tied in well as a follow on from our Native bush studies pre-covid and lock down. They eagerly monitored their seedlings and were beyond excited to see shoots coming through the soil! It would have been great if we had been able to extend this topic further, however with the covid-19 interruptions we were unable to do this. Highly recommend this kit to others!
