Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The images - this kept it real and in a way evidence of what happened. Kids need authenticity. They also need to see New Zealander's in images to make it relative to them especially when this allows connection to themselves and the topic. The links to the

“My year 7/8 students loved this kit. They were fully engaged in learning the history of the bomb as well as the impacts on the people who were affected by testing. I did this kit last year. School has started this year for us and students who completed the kit last year have initiated their own conversation with the new Y7 cohort about what they had learned during their studies.”

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? We'd covered protests before but this really ignited their passion. Ensuring we were learning about things from a range of perspectives and that included bringing in their whānau thoughts and experiences from the time!

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The stories from the mean on board, the official documents and the video files or audio links. The class also loved the Spotify playlists!

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? Funnily enough the students loved the flag and the exploring the notion of the importance flags.

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? Many students commented in their reflections that they learnt to understand different perspectives and wanted to try to continue this in other topics of work.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The timeline as we used it collaboratively and built it as a class. Artefacts evoked many questions and students were challenged to explain the signifinance of each piece.

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? This resource was fantastic in getting the kids to consider a range of different points of view on historical events. Considering why New Zealanders changed their view of Nuclear power over time, how the ways in which they got their news is so different f

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The kids loved looking at all of the different snippets from the past, especially the photos from Operation Grapple. They struggled to read some of the photos of old schedules and navy documents and suggested that a digital copy of the text could be added

“Room 13 had a fantastic time learning about New Zealand's history with Nuclear power. Obviously the topic of Nuclear Bombs gets everyone interested but once the initial excitement wore off the class really started to see a broader picture behind the big bombs. As they began to understand the impact Nuclear weapons have beyond the initial blasts and the long term ramifications from radiation etc. they showed an eagerness to learn more about why places such as France kept testing for so long. The resources were a fantastic, visual, way to engage the class with the topics and get them investigating the questions that were raised along the way. We still have a few small parts of the nuclear free section to complete but the class have thoroughly enjoyed going through and learning about all of the events so far. It has been an incredible resource and I have also enjoyed teaching my students about New Zealand's history with the nuclear free movement.”
