How did this kit build awareness and understanding of the NZ Navy and it's contributions to our history? The role of the NZ Navy in the nuclear testing was fascinating as it transferred from supporting Britain to 'observing' and broadcasting to the world the French testing.

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? It provided a part of NZ History to the students they had nearly no idea about. They knew nothing of nuclear energy and what it could do. They had learned some history of WW11 and this followed nicely. The photos, video footage, documents really made it a
Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? Some of the students liked reading the newspapers, not just the relevant articles. They also enjoyed the photos as a starting point for discussions. Some liked the flag and the badges. Different students liked different parts!
“I found it brilliant as a resource to build student's knowledge around nuclear history of the Pacific region. I used the resources in the 4 parts, and created an independent literacy activity for each part - one that looked at the videos, the historical documents and it provided lots of discussions with the students. It got them inquisitive. They really knew nothing about nuclear weapons or nuclear power. The students liked how each topic followed in chronological order, and they saw the changes in how people thought, acted, and supported ideas over that period.”

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The images were the greatest spark for discussion, but all resources were of interest.

How did this kit build awareness and understanding of the NZ Navy and it's contributions to our history? There was lots of information provided on the schoolkit website, but this only worked for my academic students. Lower ability students found it more challenging to engage with the material.
