What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? Students spent a few weeks discussing this with each other. This shows that they had interest in the tasks
Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The visual ones. My students enjoyed all the visual resources.

How did this kit build awareness and understanding of the NZ Navy and it's contributions to our history? There was lots of information provided on the schoolkit website, but this only worked for my academic students. Lower ability students found it more challenging to engage with the material.

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? The kit was very useful making the connection between the atomic age/cold war era to the NZ context as this was our greater unit. It has been difficult to find well curated resources on the NZ nuclear movement prior to this.
Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? Students enjoyed using the online portal and exploring the plethora of videos, artefacts and transcripts. With all the physical copies we ended up creating a wall display.
“Overall this learning kit has some fantastic resources both digital and tactile. It is perfect for an inquiry based unit for sure. I think what is missing is a logical, sequential unit plan to follow.”

The students learned more about the role the New Zealand Navy played in the nuclear testing happening the Pacific. They also learned that for some Navy members this came at a cost to their health.

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? I was surprised how little the students new about nuclear testing in the Pacific (and really anything nuclear at all). This kit generated lots of questions and discussions around this - especially Aotearoa's role and the impact on the Pacific Islands.
Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The students were really engaged in this task - the hands on and collaborative aspects of this were great.

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? This kit made an impact on how my kids learn and critically think about topics; they look for more information from different sources and different types of sources now.
Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? My students really liked diving into Operation Grapple via the veteran information cards. Also, having the giant timeframe as a visual in our class was very useful.
