Historical empathy was something that the Y9's ended up focusing on, with good results. Being able to relate some students familial military involvement, and some recent protest involvements, was successful.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? Recreated primary documents such as the maps, certificates, and flags. What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? Opening their eyes up as they see over time the changes and effects this type of movement has had not only on NZ but other places around the world - the connections were there and very clear.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The timeline to display on the wall - students are very visual and they like being able to LOOK at something and get some quick knowledge - sharing with their peers was great to see.

“I found this kit very insightful - particularly from an inquiry and literacy lens. There was not a lot of prior knowledge in the class and the learners were very interested and surprised by New Zealand's recent history. I found the kit well stocked with different learning experiences that were cross-curricular. I did not complete the kit fully due to time pressures but did complete 90% of the activities this term. I am going to complete the rest of the learning - possibly early Term 3.
