What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? Students had very little awareness of this part of NZ's history. They now have a good base understanding of events, even if some of the details were more difficult for some of them.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? They enjoyed comparing the different year clusters in the timeline and how different the advertising was in each era. They liked the physical badges, and posters (being ESOL students they are quite visual learners).. They also liked the spotify links and

“I loved this kit!! It was very easy to navigate and use. The teachers guide with active links sat on my desktop - always ready to use. The students really engaged with the artifacts and found the online info easy to find. We worked in small groups to investigate our part of the inquiry - we built a group website to showcase our findings and discuss our learning. Constructing the timeline was very successful and we added some of the artifacts to it. We created our own NZ nuclear free posters and preparing to do some more debating next week.”

How did this kit build awareness and understanding of the NZ Navy and it's contributions to our history? The class loved this kit and learning about the Navy was a nice alternative to the normal topics covered in school. It was a hit with the boys!

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? It was great to have local history and things/places that the students could relate to. It was an eye opener but something they really enjoyed diving into.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? They loved this resource, they were interested and engaged. It was a particular hit with the boys but everyone enjoyed the activities.

How did this kit build awareness and understanding of the NZ Navy and it's contributions to our history? This has helped us understand the people that were in the navy at the time and their own experiences. We have been able to put ourselves in their shoes and experience what they experienced and how this has shaped our nuclear-free stance.

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? This kit has been incredibly engaging and motivating for them.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? All of the resources have been great in this kit. We refer to them in every lesson.

“We are still working through our Bomb Gone Kit and will be well into Term 3. We have decided to really delve deeper and have been able to pull out lots of reading and writing lessons from the kit (comprehensions, mapping skills, recounts, newspaper articles, biographies and so much more!). This is one of the best kits we have had. The students are engaged and motivated, particularly the boys. It has opened up some amazing discussion and critical thinking in our year 6-8s. There has been lots of new learning for staff as well. Thank you school kit!”
