What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? The kit has enabled the students to learn more about our history and nuclear power. This also has meant that there has been a greater awareness of the content because they only view us as nuclear free. Although we have a much greater history than what is currently reflected at present day.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The sites are good because it enables them to explore the detail in more information.

“I like the teacher guide which came with this resource. This was a shirt guide and this has been easy to use to help apply the knowledge of what we have been looking for in the classroom. What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? My students have a much better understanding about what has gone on in our back yard and the importance of standing up for what is right not what is popular.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The digital movie resources allowed students to hear and understand multiple perspectives at the time and in the location.

“Bomb Gone Feedback. This has been a wonderful unit with so much information. I spent a lot of time on Operation Grapple so found I had to move a little faster through the next 3 stages to complete by the end of term. I have year 7-8 so found I needed to trawl through a lot of the sources making sure the students could grasp a clear understanding of the timeline of events especially in the political sense. I have a large majority of Pasifika students who were able to relate and put into context the visuals and discussion around the fragility of the islands and the understanding that NZ did the right thing being the voice/advocate for the Pacific. As part of our work on Operation Grapple students drew an outline of a body for ‘Role on the Wall.’ Two colours of ink were used on the interior and exterior of the bodies---one for the young Navy sailor and the other for the retired Navy veteran. The inside of the outline expressed how the men were feeling on the inside at the two different stages of their lives. The outside expressed all the external influences creating internal feelings also for both stages of their lives. The changes could be seen between the unknown of their mission in the Pacific to the known and impact of those events throughout generations. This was then linked to RE...was Operation Grapple an example of Social Sin?”
