We were able to set up a cool display that sparked conversations with anyone who came into our space, it was great to have students jump up to explain what it was and answer questions. The activities engaged all types of learners and sparked continued wider learning through inquiry. I am glad I allowed plenty of time.”

How did this kit build awareness and understanding of the NZ Navy and it's contributions to our history? The NZ Navy website was an easy to use resource for students to interact with & allows them to explore further into the navy's history. Some of my students take history to learn more about the armed forces so they loved this connection.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The copies of the letters/newspaper articles of the time. We have been working a lot on letter writing so this connected amazingly with pervious learning.

They were not interested in the resources with words and did not engage with the online resources (even when directly told to go and vi

“Timeline activity was great. The tokens with the different events enticed the students to investigate when they occurred. The Primary Sources that accompanied the packs were good discussion points. I teach at a predominantly Pacific-populated school and this programme was taught at Year 10. These students recognised the lack of Pacific Voice from within the resources provided.”
