“I have had to store this resource while my school undergoes changes to its planning process due to new senior management- which has restricted flexibility as expectations and processes are set. From my exploration of the kit- I have pulled out the "method of historical inquiry as a resource that has informed what I have been able to cover in class- I have referred briefly to the content contained in the kit as we have discussed Australia nuclear sub purchase and the deal with Papua New Guinea just this week.”

We were pretty unaware of the history around the early years of development of Nuclear weapons and NZ role is their development, so the kit has provided us with opportunities to develop awareness and knowledge.

What would you say the impact of this kit has been on your students? They have been both shocked and in awe of the stories from NZ role in the Pacific and in the development of our identity.

Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? Being able to explore the resources digitally as well as physically has been great. The students particularly enjoyed learning the personal stories and gaining an understanding of how people felt and thought at the different time periods.

“We are currently working through this unit of work with our Yr 8 Students. They are loving researching the topic and using the wide variety of both physical and digital items to develop their understanding and viewpoint of the Power in the Pacific. The quality of the resources is excellent and watching the akonga explore the materials enthusiastically is terrific. And the staff are learning too!”
