How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Te use of photos has encourage me to remember to use them and refer back to them when reviewing local curriculum activities that we have coming up this year.

“This review was great for both the students and myself as the teacher. We learned a lot of facts together. Once we got the idea of how we could use the website and the links to the photos etc, we were on our way. The most successful learning happened mainly in small groups when students completed tasks together. At times we felt slightly overwhelmed by the available information but reminded ourselves that it was designed for the long term and could be used again. Some of the writing that came out of the kit made it quite worthwhile. One thing I would do next time is try to "join some of the dots together" between the events, perhaps on a bit of a timeline.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The kit was used at a teacher aide planning day as we unpacked the new Aotearoa Nz histories update. Now looking for more local artefacts to use.

“The kit was beautiful - artefacts from periods of history, lovely coloured cards to start the journey. The children were hooked in by these. However, the kit was also complex. It is extremely meaty and could last for months. There were some interesting aspects of history that hooked the children in.”

“The students loved the pictures as prompts for their independent inquiries. It gave them a starting point to consider and sparked their interest in a way books and researching on the internet didn't. We ended up showing the resources with other teachers around the school in a professional development session and everyone else ended up ordering their own kits! Brilliant way to create engagement and generate wonderings.”
