How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Some of the resources were a bit complicated for our year 5 students. But I am sure with more practice it will get easier.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I can see the possibilities of using local knowledge (iwi and 'aiga) to create our own lessons around our place.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? To start with a place and dive into this area is such a great model, easily used. I was able to expand my knowledge of the Understand, Know, Do process.

“The box of remedy by Suzanne Aubert called to me as I am in a Catholic School. With the Year 6s at camp I had a group of Year 5s from across two rooms. We watched videos, found websites, read books and researched her life. The students were amazed by this wonderful woman, in all that she did and all that she gave up to do her good work. We connected with the Wellington sites of her life rather than Whanganui, being based in Wellington. The kit resources was so inspiring, just from one small box. I can’t wait to try other artefacts and places in the future.”

“this has been an amazing kit. The time and research that has gone into it has enabled me to teach the children about NZ history that goes far beyond what we have used in the past. A real eye opener for me and the students. It has got the students asking questions, researching to find out more and dig deeper. the resources are outstanding and I know we have only just scratched the surface of what this kit has to offer. Thank you to those that put this together for teachers and our students.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? As I don't come from where I live it's good to know the history as I educate the kids in my classroom and also my own children as they whakapapa back to the local area.
