How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We were already exploring our local area history, but this kit has given us new ideas about ways to do this with high levels of engagement and interest.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It has motivated me as a kaiako, especially because in other areas there are so many stories that we may not initially know about or see as"big"stories but have had so much impact on us today and/or industry/ societal values.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has impacted on it greatly, getting in there and getting the opportunity to deliver it- especially in an inquiry style- more freedom of choice and autonomy.

“There were so many amazing resources- I wonder if maybe we were a little bit rushed but my tamariki yr7/8 struggled a bit- maybe we should have focused on some research skills or some of the more simple topics/places. Overall it led to some great learning, but some struggled to access this. How I would do differently next time: start with less freedom/leeway to pick any card and go from there- more prior learning/ explicit skill teaching needed (for my particular class anyway).”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We didn't get much of a chance to do as much local area stuff as we would have liked to, but are excited for the prospects for next year and the next time we do this unit.

It has definitely increased my confidence as it has done the hard work of finding many resources and stories for me. I see that my knowledge will grow and grow each time we deliver this topic. “Gosh, we loved this kit and all the things in it. The class adored all the replica items and these really got them inspired to find out more. The student website was easy to use and really helped to develop the student's research skills. We have enjoyed sharing our new learning with each other.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Hopefully the students can relate to historical photos available to view in the local fish and chip shop, the community hall and on the walls in the foyer of our school.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Using these resources made it easier to discuss NZ history, They started conversations and encouraged students to identify with people from the past. It also prompted them to ask more questions and make comparisons with the present day.

We dug into the history of our local area before using this kit and it is part of our teaching already, but the way this was structured in the kit has provided a way that we could model our teaching.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I now have more knowledge in this area and also am aware of other resources that can be used to support teaching. This enabled me to learn alongside my students which was a welcome change.

“The hands on materials that were provided were outstanding and really engaged the students, especially when using clues from them to match up the objects, photos and postcards. Loved the use of pepeha to give clues to the location. The only downside for myself and our Team was the huge amount of material that needed to be read through on the student site for each postcard. For our students that struggle with reading, and also some that don't, this was quite overwhelming, so we didn't use the site to its full capacity.”

“This was an incredible resource with fabulous physical resources that students could handle and explore. Unpacking the pepeha's was so interesting and was full of surprises. I will definitely keep this kit and use it again in the future. I learned so much along side my students.”
