How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I was inspired by the story of Jack Lovelock, who was a local in my home town, Fairlie. When I was at school, we learn briefly of who Jack was but not this level of detail. I know there are many like Jack within the history of my hometown and maybe during

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It provided plenty of evidence, resources and support to my teachings. I was able to justify that New Zealand is made up of many cultures. Cultures that have come from all corners of the world. We are not just Maori and pakeha, but rather a multi cultural

The access to a number of reliable resources was pleasing. Though, I would say 60 - 50% of these resources were accessible or made a solid connection to the questions and tasks. There was serval times, the students and myself, were confused to what was been asked or how to use a resource in benefit of the questions or task. Otherwise, the connections made between the histories seemed plausible. The story of Abel Tasman or the Springbok Tour captivated the students involved with these histories. But not all of the histories were dynamic and exciting for the students, rather a story of a cultural taking on a new life in a different country. E.g, the Jewish community and their baking shops in Christchurch. The students did learn the importance of such experiences but they probably weren't inspired by such things. Which I guess it a win.

Kia ora In term 2 I spent time exploring the kit with a colleague to do my own professional learning. I have now included the kit into this terms learning programme. The kit is excellent and as a teacher I felt that you had me and my learning needs in mind, as well as those of my students. It is an amazing way to connect with the new curriculum document. This will be a kit that I use as an ongoing resource within my teaching programme.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We used one of the local sites (The Nurses' Chapel) as a focus for our writing, and although we haven't taken a physical trip due to COVID constraints we have been digitally exploring our local area.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? This kit was confusing for how to use it in the class, if I was to lead it or if the students were to be independent learners. It took a while for the students to engage, during the pandemic they seem less confident to work independently while in class ne

The artifacts and format was really engaging and interesting as a way to get students interested however for year7 students with lower literacy levels or those who are less competent technology users, it was difficult for them to access.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? As a Kahui Ako Within School leader I presented what my class had been doing and then as a Kahui Ako group we then recreated our own version of this at our local museum during a hui, where teachers were encouraged to find an object that would inspire thei

This was one of the best kits we have ever received, what an incredible way to introduce so many different stories from our past. The students were hooked from day one. The idea of starting with just an image and pepeha and then being able to unlock a story online, which may or may not lead to them being able to handle some of the more prized items in the school kit-eg the gold in the jar and the candle box. By the end of the term the students were excitedly telling me all about the connections they were finding in each others stories. We opted for students choosing a new postcard each week, completing as many tasks as possible and then displaying what they had found/learnt on our classroom wall as a working display. When parents came in for our Parent teacher interviews they were so pleased to see what the students were learning about and I know that it encouraged a lot of conversations about historical events at home.

This is an amazing kit - we explored a couple of the cards in-depth and the students really enjoyed delving into the history of the locations. I can't wait to explore further cards over the course of the year!
