“This kit was an amazing support tool to support for one of my learners to show his knowledge of Aotearoa history. We would read the story together as a class, and he would then extend what happened at that location. For him, this kit increased his self-esteem within the classroom.”

“Students and I loved the resources as it gave more meaning to their learning eg: learning about the Chinese NZers and they saw the poll tax certificate; Pasifika reading articles and then they saw the Polynesian Panther Legal Aid pamphlet. They loved these and it generated lots of talks, questions and created more motivation to learn.”

“This was a fabulous kit with great resources and stories. Everyone in the class learnt something new and the different interactive activities were great for the different learning styles that are present in a class. There were some links or activities that didn't work for whatever reason. Some cards had a lot of written components and some had none, so an improvement could be spreading these out so that workloads could be more evenly spread amongst the students.”

“I used this as an immersion task into our classroom inquiry unit on Aotearoa history and it was a great resource to intro the kids into the new topic. The students observed and analysed the items and write predictions and notes of what they saw or would guess the item meant. Created lots of thought provoking questions and wonderings which was perfect for the unit. We tan them by class rotations so we able to use them with more than one group.”

“Year 7/8 class. They really enjoyed the artifacts and photos which we used a little differently - locating the places on an NZ map - as most were not from our area. It was great to see online and offline material. It was a bit high level for some of the year 7s but we buddied them up tuakana/teina which helped.”
