How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The reason I signed up for this kit was to continue our school focus on our stories, our local community, and making connections. We are already motivated, this has added to our resource base.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? It is good to know that this isn't a kit that has been developed in isolation and that it reflects the real stories. It has helped some of our students feel more connected to their stories.

The kit comes with access to a website with very thought-provoking topics. There is a lot of work and in-depth research that can be done. It will take a while to get through some of the content and we will continue with ones that are relevant to the other work we have been doing. Having the physical resources to go with it is a real bonus and the focus on how to read photos is applicable to so many other tasks. We have only managed to touch the tip of the iceberg.

This kit was absolutely amazing - what an experience for our kids to go through (and actually I learnt so much and wish this had been taught when I was a kid!!!). The kit was so well put together and the online resources were brilliant. The content was honest, eye-opening and sometimes brutal, but totally necessary for our tamariki to understand Aotearoa the way it should be. I will be using this kit every single year and have already recommended several colleagues get it if it is available next year

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Most definitely. Loved how 'Google' has been superseded by all the other information sources. Students are far too reliant on 'Google' and this certainly exposed them to all the different ways to find information.

We are only part-way through the kit but all the kaiako and tamariki are excited, enthusiastic and totally engaged. The two classes in the senior syndicate started by working through one of the stories each and trying out the different archives and resources. My class looked at'Industry' and the Bruce Woollen Mill in Otago. We compared Swanndri products with other brands producing similar garments and tested how waterproof they were with students volunteering to be hosed down whilst wearing them. We purchased a NZ History Time Traveller resource that focused on Level 4 journals which has aligned perfectly with the kit and provided links to journals and interesting follow-up activities for reading. There have been lots of'wow' moments, when after reading about"The Fight to Vote"SJ:L:4 May 2017, the students recognised a photo of Meri Te Tai Mangakahia in the kit. The students have now got a partner and have been given a story to work through independently. We created a google slide where they can record their findings and hope to finish off with some kind of exhibition where they can share their knowledge and understanding with the rest of the school. Thanks for the incredible resources and the opportunity to understand the different perspectives from each location, knowing that the information was provided by the stakeholders. Absolutely brilliant.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes, we have begun connecting our local waterways to our Enviro unit and this unit through how it was established and maintained over the years. We visited our local waterways, found plaques and met a local who shared her memories on our journey.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? This made the connections to these events more real to the kids and they were then able to make their own connections. Connections to their own iwi, whanau and school community.

I absolutely loved this kit! So much effort went into these resources and the preparation for them. The kids enjoyed working online and working collaboratively. However, my class did struggle to comprehend without teacher support at the year 5 level. This is more suited to year 6's.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The model is great and I like how the overall set up is mirroring the Curric refresh. It has led to a greater awareness of history in our area and some of our children are now looking at history in their personal inquiry.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? The structure of the kit aligned with the new NZ Curric refresh. The material within the kit has been put together with support from iwi and I know that I can lean on this kit in the future to help me with my teaching integration of this curric area.

I found this resource to be so comprehensive that I feel I have barely scratched the surface. The online site is great and I have been using it with some of my higher leveled readers to work on their research and interpretation skills. A few of my children have an interest in historical events and it is great to have a one stop shop to go to to find credible information that is easy to gather and then use to extend the thinking of the children.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We did delve more into our local history and found even though it is hard to find online information I'm now connecting with other sources, such as the local history/archives groups to get ideas and suggestions. Akonga are also reaching out to their exten

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? With all the links offered it meant I could send myself down a rabbit hole to learn more. It also helped me realise that history is broader than I thought.

I don't know where to start for this review but wow!! It was huge and at times I feel I didn't do it justice. With such a messy term due to illness etc there were areas some akonga missed out on, including myself! Akonga were more excited when they discovered that there was a story from their area. This helped them feel more connected to the kit. This was a great way to help them learn about different aspects of NZ history.

We trialed the 'Economy' stories in Year 10 Social Studies. Unpacking the pepeha was a meaningful task for students. The resources provided were awesome - I love how they were scaffolded at different levels. Having artifacts also brought the history to life! There is no way I could have sourced such a rich and in depth examination without the kit -thank you!

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It's a time factor really - great materials but difficult to find the time.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I think definitely for older kids. I think some of the material was a bit complicated for the younger students and a lot went over their heads

I found the instructions of the kit quite hard to follow and not overly user friendly. The students also found it hard to follow and got quite confused at times about the tasks they were expected to do. Covid had a big impact as I was off and most of the class were at different times which meant it was a bit 'bitsy' and we weren't able to get through a lot of the activities. I would say it was quite overwhelming. On a school /personal level we were limited as the school I am at has a strict approvals process for digital material so a lot of it was blocked for the class ( not your fault but the rules of my school). The students were engaged with the subject matter as they love learning about history ( we did Tuia 250 with the same class a few years ago and it was a huge hit)
