How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I'd be able to research relevant historical occurrences in my area and use the photograph and inquiry method to have my students learn about what happened right where we live. The kut has enabled me to see more possibilities.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? This had a significant impact. There is always more than one side to a story and I was able to have my students develop that empathy and perspective I knew I wasn't teaching with blinkers on.

“Wow, a wonderful kit that I will go back to again and again. Your support material is fantastic, well explained and easy to access. My class loved the detective work and I loved that with this kit we are looking at loads of different historically significant events.”

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? This kit definietely shared stories that I didn't know even as an experience teacher. The levels allowed us to target the stories at the required level and also allowed it to taught at different levels of our same school.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? This provides so much support and ideas to engage students in learning. I like the way students could use learn strategies to comprehend the meaning and context of each piece of history.

“Fantastic, so much engaging material for the students to use their own way and discover more about NZ History. Our year 5/6's worked in small groups to learn about each place and reported back new knowledge in group presentations and plays that re-enacted what happened there.”

“This is definitely an awesome resource and one that will be able to be kept for years to use but we did find it quite tricky to follow and some of the cards way too hard to decipher for our year 5 and 6s. It did give us great ideas and starting points for our own research though”

“As a teacher I found this kit fascinating. Some of my class did too. Working through some of it helped them go off on their on. I will be continuing to use the Aotearoa NZ Histories kit for the rest of the year. Delving into different topics. Once I'd worked out which were local it was easier. Some of the concepts and digging deeper were difficult for the children, working alongside them helped them to garner more curiosity and engagement.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? For me, it has set a new benchmark on how we can teach NZ Aotearoa Histories using local, digital and physical mediums to make it happen. This kit is so awesome, and I am highly recommending to anyone who will listen!

“What an absolutely outstanding kit! I was amazed at the quality of the contents - and the 'artefacts' are an absolute delight. Students loved to handle objects to connect to the past, and in this digital age, having physical items that can actually be touched was so inspiring. The quality of the artefacts were amazing - many students couldn't believe they weren't 'real'. The cards with online digital inquiry/adventures were great too - but the biggest thrill were the physical objects.”
