How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Our Kura are starting to form more of a connection with our local Iwi. We are on the journey of creating our own local pepeha, and are getting more confident to share it with others.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? I think that had more impact for myself than my students. I felt like I paid more time and respect to the stories, and felt more connected to our past. I feel like it filled a part of my own learning journey that wasn't addressed when I was at school myse

This kit is an amazing resource that has been cleverly curated to support the teaching of Aotearoa/NZ History in our schools. It enables students to work in a variety of ways, both independently and as part of a group to learn about our history beyond their own world. The resources and website are designed to complement each other, and can be used over and over again. They promote questioning and critical thinking, both of which are valuable skills for our akonga. If I had a critique, it would be that many of our students struggled to navigate through the tasks - often missing the higher level thinking required to truly understand what was being asked of them. I wonder though if this is more a reflection of the times we are living in post-lockdowns, as we are finding that the expectations we have of our students have changed after 2 highly interrupted years of learning from home.

This is an absolutely fantastic kit packed with so much information. Due to high illness rates we did not get the time I wanted to devote to this resource, so we will be carrying on in Term 3. There is so much rich learning in here and the students were interested in the links between various stories. They love finding the rough locations based on the pepeha. Thank you school kit for another AMAZING resource which has obviously had so much time, effort, care and thought put into it by so many people.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? This Term our rangatahi had been exploring our local history focusing on the areas that our schools syndicates are named after. We organised trips to certain places in order to see and hear the purakau around the names given to our school classes. This re

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Very suprising and grateful that the developers chose to do this. Teaching in a bilingual setting at our school all students had been learning their Pepeha in Term one and our Topic Studies this Term was titled: Ko wai matou? No wai matou? So this Kit was

This kit is amazing. With all of the seemingly authentic physical clues, the website and access to so many research engines, multi-media archives and historical gems, this Kit has it all. It has been a little overwhelming and it did take a great deal of time to un-pack everything and figure out how to use things. I did spend some time trialling this kit with an extension English class that I teach and we only just started exploring the material and website in the last 3 weeks of the Term. I intend to use the kit in Term 3 with my actual homeroom to delve deeper and unpack things more now that I have had a few weeks to process everything.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Having this kit within the year 5 team inspired us to further it into our own community. Our school had just recently had our 150 year anniversary that we missed celebrating due to COVID, we celebrated this and researched more about our areas - kids loved

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? It was great to know there had been a lot of korero and thought behind each of the stories. It helped start dialogue for us for our local area.

This kit was so thoughtfully put together with great resources. My class has loved being able to follow their own lines of inquiry with the support from this kit. The questions that came out of discussions around the different resources were amazing! It also has helped me develop my knowledge further. I recommend this kit to all classrooms! (And can't wait to continue to use it further next term)

I fund this kit very good as I love history. I did find it a bit wordy for my year 5 and 6 students. They found the content interesting but needed to be guided through it more than working with independence. They liked the hands on experience with the artefacts and photos and trying to find where they fit in with the website.

I have a year four class and they loved being detectives and learning about important slices of our history. The only problem was the huge amount of information. There is enough great stuff in this kit to last for a long time. I will be continuing this learning journey into term 3 (and possibly longer). Thanks for all the hard work done putting this all together.
