Students interacted with the stories with respect and care because they knew they were real. There was a lot of history both akonga and kaiako didn't know about and it was an awesome experience to learn alongside each other.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Absolutely. We love how you structured the learning - postcard / pepeha / unlock stories and tasks. As there was not a postcard specifically related to our area (Central Otago), this has now inspired us to take our learning further following the structure

“Kia Ora SKS. I am absolutely blown away with this kit - you have crafted it in such a thoughtful and engaging way. Our tamariki were hooked in from the moment they viewed the beautiful aerial shot postcards and used clues from the pepeha to find each location. I love that every place has two or more stories. The kit has so many beautiful tangible trinkets, photos and other quality resources. The student website cleverly designed, and the learning tasks and stories are carefully considered for each year level. We now have a huge bank of digital archive sites to take our research further. The story of the Featherston Camp WW2 incident really engaged my tamariki. As much as it was shocking, it drew out emotion and empathy in my learners, and valuable conversations about how we can learn from the past in order to improve our future. Thank you for providing me with the tools and confidence to navigate this important new curriculum. Ngā mihi nui, Beth”
