How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Currently going on our own journey with local stories and how they connect us to the whenua. Definitely lots of opportunities to use this kit and also has sparked ideas about how we will connect locally.

“I can't say enough good things about this resource and the learning that did and can happen in so many different directions. It caters for many different abilities and sparks and engages students in such a wonderful way. All classes/teachers should experience this kit! You can link it in to so many different topics that you are already doing. I've shared it with other teachers in my school who loved it also.”

“The students enjoyed the variety and choice. It was great to have the physical aspect - photographs they could hold and then find out more online. There was a lot of material to get through and we quite ran out of time. Some kids did struggle piecing things together, even in a Y8 class.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I am already super keen to be delivering this curriculum as I know how important it is for our tamariki to know about our history. This kit has given me another tool to use which is always amazing. “My akongā loved this kit! They loved the artifacts and having something physical in their hands. The various stories were really interesting, it was amazing to discover new stories from around Aotearoa. Some aspects were a little bit difficult for Year 5 and 6, but they got there in the end.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has impacted my confidence of delivering meaningful, accurate information greatly. However, it took a lot of prior planning and work to understand the set up and how my students could satisfactorily research themselves.
