“The ideas in in are great. I adapted some ideas for my younger group of children and related it to our local area and Ureia the Taniwha. (There was an article about the taniwhasaurus in the newspaper)”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes, this was exactly what we did. It started as an NZ approach and then we used it to make links and explore the smaller and closer community ties.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? This was amazing at developing what I knew and what I could teach. It was the perfect started that allowed more connections.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Great motivation, not just for local area but even the wider local area.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It formed an introduction for me. At first i was a little overwhelmed with everything but the supports were great. I liked how I could do it as a whole with my class before letting them try in groups.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? This kit has enabled our ākonga to explore more in the local areas. They have looked at the elements of their Pepeha and related this to our local areas by using this as a platform.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We were already aware of local history but the kit does give an impetus for kids finding out more and understanding that history is people's life stories.

“This pack is very well researched and put together. The reason for 4 starts instead of the probably deserved 5 is that there is so MUCH in the kit that that in itself can make it more difficult to navigate and a bit overwhelming. I love the breadth and depth of the learning and I learned a lot as a teacher, I would just take a much more teacher directed and careful approach next time.”
