How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It was excellent having reliable material to use. Some of it was more suited to the teacher, then the information used in simpler ways for the children.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? This kit is great as there were many stories that related to experiences in our local area, such as changes in land ownership after WW2, urbanisation, the fight for gender equality etc

“The Aotearoa NZ Histories resource pack has been a huge hit with my 9 Social Studies classes. Brings NZ hisory to life in a tangible way. A great starting point for conversations, ponderings, reflections and storytelling. It has encouaged my students to ask more questions at home and bring in their own 'histories'.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has really helped as when I went through school the New Zealand history was not being taught and we were kind of made to feel ashamed of it (as in the lack of history!)
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes, it has made me think about how we can explore history more locally. I'm working up a learning experience that will also use AR hopefully. The hard part is finding sources for local information.

“My Year 8 class used this kit in Term 2. We tied it into our new unit on Land Loss and Legacy. Using the cards we were able to connect into the importance of our stories and how they connect into the land. The students enjoyed the exploration aspect of the photos and item. And it gave them deeper understanding of how our land has changed hands and the different uses it has today. The girls really enjoyed doing the tasks and sharing their knowledge with each other. It was very useful having the 'How to read a photo' section, as this really helped guide the students to look deeply and also to think critically about what they were seeing. I will definitely be using the kit again in 2024.”
