How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Like I say, to know that these stories have been sourced from reliable and trustworthy sources and then made accessible to us as educators and our students is gold.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We have a really rich history as a school and it has helped our students value the significance of things that happened in the past.

I would like to thank those who created this resource- fabulous content and we will use it again and again. The importance of having resources to support the learning ( ours and our tamariki), that focuses on local history is key. You have simplified the journey by capturing some of the stories in one space. The content navigator was gold as it is quite a bit to unpack. We are as a school at the beginning of what we know is a long learning journey.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has taught me a load more about Aotearoa's history, has given me more ideas about how to get students working with photos, and given me more knowledge about the online resources available and ideas of how our students can use these.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We had already been exploring our local history but at a fairly superficial level. Now I'm more inspired to get our students researching for themselves some of our local stories.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? I think that has been a real key to making this such an awesome kit. We have talked about getting our local community involved in our school's local history inquiry but it's been hard going so far. This kit has given me a reminder of how important input from our local families will be for learning about our areas' real history.

This kit takes you into some of the more fascinating little stories from our country's history - You know, the ones they never taught you at school!!! It is great to be able to study the photos (real photos, not just one a screen!) and to learn about the people in them and the times that they lived through. I really like this kit, but it has one fundamental flaw - It is a real mission to match up the kit's lovely tangible items to the postcards. I ended up spreading them across the floor and working my way through the postcards one by one on the website, scrolling down and trying to spot which photos matched with something in the sea of items in front of me! It took ages. Once I'd done that, of course, I was then stuck with trying to work out how to keep them together or to label them in some way so that I didn't have to repeat the process. Nowhere can/could I find any documentation to list which item goes with which postcard. This is my only criticism of this kit. Otherwise, ... The stories are great. The information given and the links work well. Shame that some of the postcards are redundant for now - are these going to be completed? Regardless of this, the stories are great, then lessons into how objects are used by researchers are brilliant, and I love the fact that students can really get absorbed into their story, feeling that this is their own real piece of research. Is the website and the links for this kit going to stay live? - we have teachers who now want to use this kit again next year, and maybe on-going.

Lovely packaging and kit. Great visual images. Good discussion points. The children were curious about the kit and wanted to explore the artefacts. It linked in with some of our topic, but some aspects didn't. I have a mixed Year 3 and 4 and some of it was a bit advanced for my children.

My class and I absolutely loved working our way through the kit. The cards and items were really engaging and really piqued my kids' interest. The website is well laid out and easy to use. The stories provoked a lot of really interesting conversations. We found that the kids wanted to explore further and our local community got involved.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? The majority were already highly confident as historians and teach a lot of NZ histories, but for those that don't it was very useful.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We already do this very well as we have a close relationship with mana whenua as a school and do local trips at Social Studies and History level.

Well-rounded, solid perspectives, and factual information. Useful to start discussions and a good foundation for non historians to teach from.
