How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? As it has increased my curiosity, I have found myself wanting to explore the Manawatu regions local history and find local stories that may have impacted my students and their families.

“My class greatly enjoyed exploring the Prerana topic and all the resources that went along with it. The stories were told in simple but effective ways. This allowed my students to understand the racism prevalent at the time. My particular school created a museum showcasing our student's new understandings and knowledge. Each class had a different topic to learn and showcase in the museum. It is our hope we will continue using these kits throughout the years switching the stories between classes.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? My confidence has has a great boost as it I find it difficult to ensure students get an all-round approach of the history and not just "tokenism" teaching

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? As a CoL we have been working hard to implement a local curriculum for our area. I believe this model can be used well as we have a rich and dynamic history in our area.

I didn't tell them at first that these were real stories. however, once they did they wanted to research more about them - great teachable moment and students spent an extra week researching.

“this was fantastic! I liked how it had the new curriculum "understands, knows, dos" as it was a great way to give them a go and integrate them into my planning. Students loved learning about the different people and places and were able to have some indepth conversations about the difference between now and then.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We have Māori students from all over the rohe but we do link to local whanau as well.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? The kit made delivering the New Zealand histories curriculum more accessible, I didn't use the online resources as much as I could have because some of the information was aspects I have taught before and I used the kit to supplement the learning

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I think it has, because the information was there. One of the biggest barriers we have to history of our local area is the equity of accessibility, groups and organisation wanting to charge 1000's of dollars for this knowledge is out of reach for many schools when you think it is one 8th of a curriculum.

“The kit was amazing the hands-on artifacts, photos, and resources really bought the kit to life, it was so well-received by the students that we had some children talking about it during the school's open night. The collator of the kit should be commended as there was such a variety from little hessian bags to photos and timelines which really engaged the children”
