“A few interesting things in the box that the students seemed excited about. There were some cool ideas in there, unfortunately we were not able to fully utilise them as we moved onto a different unit. This however did prompt some great discussions with my class.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Great to have a website that is student friendly as often in research the literacy content is hard for the Year 4's to access/unpack.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? At my school we already heavily involve local history in our curriculum however it has been exciting seeing students explore other moments in history and make connections between significant events

“Term 3 and 4 are very busy terms at school. Using this kit I tried to weave it amongst our current inquiry topic and our local curriculum/ local history. My students enjoyed the few postcards that we explored. It was very teacher guided as I found it a bit much for my Year 4's, however with teacher guidance they accessed the information etc and enjoyed showing what they learnt. Having only done a few, I know I will continue to use this resource next year and in coming years! It will be a great resource to in the toolkit!”

“This was amazing. My class really loved using the pepeha to try and "crack" the location and the postcards and artefacts were fantastic with promoting discussion and asking questions. The stories and website were fantastic and easy to use. (awesome clips and support resources) I loved using this resource and my students were engaged and highly interested. There was so much to explore and investigate - more than a term's work.”
