How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has definitely helped with my confidence as the kit gave me an insight into how I might approach other topics. It also reminded me of the importance of artifacts and visual materials.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I could definitely use this model for our local area. There are a number of cards/stories in the kit relevant to our area to use for modelling the coverage of other events/places in our rohe.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? A significant impact. I felt incredibly privileged to be able to access Mātauranga Māori from around the motu. It also resonated with me that an event does not have to necessarily have a specific Māori focus to effectively include Mātauranga Māori.

“My Year 9 ākonga and I enjoyed a voyage of discovery through Aotearoa New Zealand's historical events, many of which were new to us, myself included as kaiako. Eye-opening, engaging, so many superlatives would fit here. I'm grateful for the amazing SchoolKit which took away the pressure we often feel to produce resources and then teach. Having such an amazing array of resources to use meant I could concentrate more on how I would teach and my ākonga could learn. Having a number of different levels of activities meant I could give learners advice as to which level of completion would best suit them and their current skill set. Thanks for what really amounts to great team-teaching.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I feel that the huge amount of different stories and activities being set for me makes me feel much more relaxed about getting the planning done and so I can just focus on teaching and guiding my tamariki through the work.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I don't feel that it has done this for me in particular but we have just had PD on local curriculum with iwi involvement. I suppose this will encourage me to delve into local history in more depth.

“I found this kit awesome. I liked the variety of the stories and the ability to differentiate levels for different learners. I thought the artifacts that come with it seem somewhat take it or leave it as they have no real impact on the learning journey but they are a welcome addition. I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring this kit!”
