How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? A huge boost.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The pepeha gives an authentic 'locatedness' both culturally and physically. We have learned that history is a continual story, with neither start nor end.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Affirming and inspiring. The selection of the stories is important, because what we focus on tells a lot about what we value. It is excellent to see such diversity in the stories in focus.

Content rich, engaging and authentic primary sources... wow! This unit is a goldmine. Differentiated tasks enable students to engage with a diversity of topics and themes across Aotearoa's rich past. We focused on the St Kilda Marching band, and through our investigation of the 1914 Band Photo, learned about primary/secondary sources, and tried to find more information about the band and the community which they represented. It was very exciting to see the children put their "historian" hats on, acting as detectives, using keywords to search for images on digital collections and articles in Papers Past. What's best is that we still have so much more content to discover. I'm sure we can come back to this again, and also use the objects as "high interest" sources for discovery. A historian's "Research Desk" with 2 clues and a space to investigate. I'm really looking forward to continuing our learning and helping students because critically literate as they discern and evaluate the importance, reliability, and relevance of the information they find. I couldn't recommend this unit enough! It's such a treasure trove.

My class are Year 4 students and found the photographs the most interesting for discussion. I ordered and received my kit after we had completed planning and felt if I had ordered before planning it could of been implemented better and wasn't put to its full use.

We thought this kit tied in nicely to our focus for this year. 'One World Many Stories'. It was put together really well and provided teachers with a great hook into their Social Science focus.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? This has built my own knowledge and given me ideas of different ways to approach this area of the curriculum which we are all new to learning about.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I liked the physical resources that were within the kit - would be great to create a wee kit of touchstone pieces to explore similar to this that were relevant to our community.

This kit was absolutely amazing. The physical resources within the kit and the online resources to support it surpassed my expectations. We are a small rural school with a large year level spread within our classrooms and we were able to cater for all the different learning needs and interests of our broad spread of children. We will continue to use this kit going forward as there is still so much more in there to explore

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Improved my confidence, but still lacking in confidence.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes - the most interest was cards with local connections (Dunedin and Milton). I am developing a unit based on our local town and river and am trying to link it to this model.

There is a lot in this pack to get started with investigating areas of Aotearoa History in further depth, so we haven't used all of the resources. However, this isn't a bad thing, as this is a kit that can used time after time and still spark new wonderings. We initially worked through one card together based on a local industry, which led to several sessions looking at how to effectively use the internet for research - important lifelong skills. Students then chose a card that appealed to them and worked in pairs and small groups. The student website was great, although some groups of students struggled a little and needed a lot of support (mainly struggling readers and ESOL students). As a immigrant to Aotearoa, it gave me some confidence in teaching this subject as it is daunting to a teacher from overseas. I learnt a great deal alongside my students, and it was positive for them to see me as a learner as well as a teacher.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has definitely grown my own knowledge and given me a starting platform - a unit that well planned and can be executed effectively.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I would definitely use this model. I am from Taupō so we are lucky to have a localised curriculum developed in support with the iwi already. This kit has given me the tools to further explore history in other regions of NZ.
