How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It created opportunities to explore new topics and sources. As I delivered this as part of a Humanities program that incorporates Social Studies, History and Geography, this kit was a great way to show how these strands all blend togther through stories and sites.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The idea of starting with an image and bouncing from that was cool - and the notion that every picture tells some type of story could certainly adopted as a model in our junior programs.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Certainly gives the resource a level of credibility, and takes the pressure off teachers. Consultation and collaboration are so important, but can also take a long time to do - developing relationships etc. - so having this as a a ready to go kit was great.

“I used this kit with a Level 1 Humanities course. The combination of tactile and digital tools was great. The skills that students developed doing this now will be transferred to other topics and subjects through to Level 2 and 3 - even just things like exploring papers past and reading challenging primary sources, as these are skills that will be incredibly useful moving forward.”

It definitely allows some independence while also giving a very interesting set of events and views. This has made me more confident that I can offer my kids a better opportunity to learn about interpreting information in different ways as well.

“I thought that the knowledge gained was absolutely awesome, however, I found that it got quite confusing running it with my class at times. For example, my students were often not able to work out the initial clue to get into the task, once they were in the resources they didnt find the questions easily. Running it the second time this year will hopefully be more successful. I also still don't fully understand how the physical resource prompt wheels work.”
