How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Not much - given it covered such a wide variety of POs, it felt pretty disconnected from the curriculum.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? No - we don't currently have the iwi or community partnerships necessary to make something like this.

“The resources and information varied massively, meaning that most learners could find something they were interested in. However, as much as I love throwing learners in the deep end, this felt too far. They struggled with the questions and fully understanding some of the more complex resources available, particularly when handwriting was involved, or trawling through records. In the end, most stories didn't have enough 'oomph' to keep the momentum going for very long.”

“Absolutley loved the content, the use of the websites, the artifacts provided to create a handson/visual experience. I found the information just to much and overwhelming and students found it hard to follow and choose an activity. My class ended up focusing on one place and trying to do the activity but there were jumping all over the place and not engaged so found I had to change it up and do a Google Doc and transfer the info across”

“By far one of the best kits. It is so well put together with a wealth of information and resources to support each topic. The information is engaging, topics are meaningful, there is a range of information sources e.g. videos, lyric sheets, newspaper reports, photos etc that all capture the tamariki. The conversations we are having about things that have happened in our country are amazing - its bought a wealth of knowledge to our classroom and tamariki are having conversations at home with whānau. Thanks so much - well done to all who helped put it together. Outstanding!”
