How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Really love how you this kit steps kids through events - buidling curiosity, encouraging questions - would love to see the sites expanded.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Definitely! Worked through site with Y4's at same time as learning about and visiting Pukehinahina and Te Ranga - everyone else was very curious so worked through a couple of examples as whole class - they loved the mihi clues at the start.

“What a beautiful kit - I have a Y3/4 class - was accessible for the experts in the room, and great opportunity to learn about researching on the internet. Also a really great example to whole class to scaffold and support our learning about Battle of Pukehinahina and Te Ranga - what they thought other children should learn about for the two battles, why it's important and what to include. Will be passing on to our senior classes to make further use of this amazing kit. Beautifully put together - well done SchoolKit!”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It took me a while to get my head around it, but once I incorporated this into reading I was able to guide the children more and create some fun around it.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Was good to be able to hear NZ H that is related to the wide world.

“I really like the concept and there were many resources available. However, I noticed that the text may be too advanced for Year 5/6 students and it required a significant amount of guided instruction, which took up a considerable portion of the day. In my opinion, this kit would be better suited for Year 7/8 students.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? This kit has given inspiration and ideas - all of which were well supported with tonnes of resources.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Absolutely!!! We are about to engage with local iwi about whether they may be able to create or share with us a story, in line with examples shown. It is helpful for them to see what other iwi have done before them. Tangible.

This gave a sense of confidence, and helped to reduce the concerns around whether it was appropriate history to share. Knowing the extent of work that went in to ensure all stakeholders were happy, was key.

“This pack has been an incredible addition to work in alongside our existing topics, and also inspire future topics! The attention to detail, and the uncovering of some more obscure histories has, personally, been inspiring and re-energising. It has also led to the use of resources and links in other topics. Some really fabulous ideas and resources for local history too!!!!!”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I am still very early days in my curriculum knowledge, a great ignitor for many lessons.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It doesn't interest me enough to do so but definitely driven by the kids - we ended up doing a tour around Dunedin!

“We are using this resource to complement our unit themes from Years 7 - 10. This resource brings the ANZHC to life with KNOW contexts and the development of the DO practices through an excellent selection and use of primary and secondary sources. If you want to engage your students and develop their historical knowledge and skills with authentic learning then this is the resource to use. As a history teacher for 28 years this is one of the best resources I have come across.”

“After initially being overwhelmed by the wealth of information in this kit, I chose one small story to focus on with my students, Raureka’s story. This connected with a context near our recent school camp. For my first go I think we did ok, but look forward to looking at another postcard next term (maybe Ahunga), and delving a little deeper.”
