What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Some reading and writing - reporting /recount
My CRT release teacher ran this programme in our class as part of a science focus, she was very positive, in fact she recommended it to me as she had used it before. The kids were very engaged and very keen. We had some young Year 3s in the room and some of them found it a little more challenging but overall very successful.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Oral language, Key competencies.
The Power-it Up Kit was a great hands-on learning experience. The videos about electrical circuits were an excellent way to prepare the students with enough information to get started with the kits, while not giving them too much information that they didn't have to problem-solve a little as they went along to get the circuits to work. The dialogue between students as they helped each other trouble shoot was awesome. Another positive was the images that were to be 'lit up' were in a local context for our learners eg, the Pokeno ice-cream etc.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Science-topic of sustainability-renewable and non-renewable energy. Writing and reading.
Students at first were quite unsure how paper circuits would work, and this kit provided an excellent platform to investigate about scientific concepts of power, open and closed circuits, the components, and the parallel and series circuits. Students grew confidence and learned the vocabulary and were able to problem solve for themselves as they progressed through the kit. They were able to figure out if their LED light did not light up-what was wrong and how they could make it work. Working with copper tape, the LED lights, batteries in the different scenarios as presented in the booklet allowed thinking out of the box and led to knowing how creativity could be made simple and in the classroom. Overall, we appreciate this kit and what wealth of knowledge it has given us. As a teacher, I am keen to explore the other kits since everything is there and makes teaching easy and fun.

This kit is a fantastic resource for the students to learn all about electricity. It's so handy that everything that you need is all packed together in 1 box ready to go. The students were really engaged with all the circuit activities.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We included instruction and information report writing, and used measurement skills.
We had a lot of fun learning about electrical curcuits with 'Power it Up'. My class became experts and enjoyed creating their own circuits once they had completed many inside the books.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We did some research and writing about electricity and power sources.
The Poer it Up Kit has a great range of equipment and instructions to learn about circuits. Unfortunately I found my students were incapable of completing most tasks well independently as the copper tape was fiddly and they became frustrated. (fine motor skills is a bit of an issue in my class, as is perseverance). I would reccomend this kit for older learners.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Literacy
Always love doing this kit with my class. The students learnt so much about power. Even simple things such as positive and negative on the battery. Students found it really interesting to go through the booklet and enjoyed the added buzz of the buzzer (no pun intended). At the end we made christmas cards. The students loved having a light up christmas card to give to someone. I teach intermediate so it is an extension of the normal christmas card. Next time, I think I might do the game activitiy which looks like fun. A great end of year activitiy that keeps the students engaged. Nice to have some practical hands on aspect to their learning.
