“This Kit was WONDERFUL in, firstly, engaging my kids (yes, ALL of them - no matter their special needs, gender or abilities) but also providing them the skills to persevere when something doesn't go right. From the first circuit story, they were all hooked and every time I brought out the Kit, their eyes lit up! It was such a hands-on pathway to get them to understand circuits and the fact that they each had their own little booklet was such a bonus. Kinaesthetic learning is seriously where it's at! The resources it comes with really do break everything down for someone (like me) who isn't TOO comfortable with Science-based topics. This Kit alone has me recommending School Kits to every teacher I speak to! My ONLY critique is that my kit didn't come with buzzers, whereas another teacher did get buzzers with hers.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We tied this into our Integrated Learning about Sustainability as a prelude for working on energy, for windmills, solar and powering homes. (But see comment above, as we did not get there!)

“We have been in Level 3 Lockdown since mid August. We were in the middle of learning about circuits and 8/24 were already using the kit independently as part of their learning programme. So... where does that leave us. It was interesting to see those that wanted a quick fix and we had to backtrack and build on prior knowledge at the beginning of term 3.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The concept of a closed circuit allowing energy to flow so that the bulb could be lit came through Science and the tamariki decorating and colouring the pictures inculcated their Art skills.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The tamariki could undertake further studies in Electronics to explore the concept of energy to further extremes.
