It was a great kit, although some parts did not really work and the students had a lot of trouble making the lights go.

My class really enjoyed this task and I think it is super valuable and an experience they won't get to have very often. It has started some great discussions and challenged some preconceptions students have. One thing that would be helpful as a teacher is a small troubleshooting guide. Many of the students don't achieve success straight away. In my class is seems to be about 10 kids who get it quickly and 20 don't. Even if I partner up the first 10 to support the other 10 while I try to problem-solve the remaining 10, some students can loose focus and drive quickly, especially when more copper tape is needed and the teacher is busy. We are getting better ourselves but for some, they are losing interest because I'm not able to help them in a timely way. As I said, I really love the task and those who are doing well are really enjoying it too.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Links to our writing and maths (e.g., problem solving).
I used the Power it Up kit with my class of year 5 and 6 students in Term 4. I found the online resources incredibly helpful when planning the unit. They really helped me to gain an understanding of how to best teach the concepts involved. The student kits/resources were easy to use. I liked how the challenges on each page were clearly set out and related to our local area and the kids in my class seemed to like that link too. I appreciate having this kit to use and would love to use it again with my future classes.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Technology. Students used their understanding of circuits to create a game that featured an electrical circuit.
Room 3 students have truly embraced the 'Power It Up' unit as an exceptional educational experience. This resource-rich unit has provided engaging and enriching learning opportunities for students to explore electrical circuits. The incorporation of supplementary resources elevated the students' comprehension of circuits. Through a range of activities, 'Power It Up' not only provided fundamental knowledge but also encouraged students to demonstrate their understanding in an enjoyable way. Its emphasis on fostering creative thinking and problem-solving skills has been particularly commendable. During a busy term four, this unit has injected excitement into the classroom. The way the unit moves allows us the flexibility to attend school camp and then come back to resume our learning. The provision of excellent resources is a bonus for educators, streamlining teaching efforts without compromising quality. 'Power It Up' continues to stand out as an invaluable asset, not just in educating students about circuits, but also in igniting their curiosity and maintaining an engaging learning environment.

I am unable to write a full review as I ordered this on preparation for Term 4. However from previous experience it is an excellent kit and students always enjoy. Well thought out and easy to follow instructions.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We linked this into literacy writing explanations and scientific descriptions. We also read texts and watched different videos on circuits and electricity.
My class thoroughly enjoyed this and I had great feedback from the parents on how engaged the learners were. The students built their vocabulary knowledge using terms such as ‘consumptive/non-conductive, circuit, electrons, positive/negative etc. We also used our learning of circuits to construct a steady hand game and used the buzzers for these instead. This linked into our technology unit.
