I absolutely love this kit. I didn't start it until Term 4. I was a little apprehensive about using it but the youtube clip and student booklet was so easy to follow and work through I shouldn't have worried. The students loved it and both the students and I learnt so much. I now have a few keen potential electricians in my class. The students were motivated and engaged, asking when are we doing power it up again! This kit was well thought through and I would always put my hand up for another.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? This kit supported our work on coding and digital technologies, particularly with using Makey Makey. I also used it in conjunction with some of our reading and writing tasks as they completed different activities. The class wrote a set of instructions on
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Next I would like to explore the use of circuits to create interactive learning posters or matching activities like True / False statements on an area of learning. I am extremely keen to create a 5 stars of Matariki display using circuits and LED lights.

This pack was amazing! It had everything in it that I needed to support teaching and learning of circuits. The equipment was of high quality and there was plenty of it to ensure the students had easy access to what they needed to complete tasks. This was an amazing opportunity to have to successfully support teaching circuits to my class and upskilling myself. The student booklets and teacher resource guides provided everything my students and I needed.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We had the opportunity to do this as Power it up arose cross curricular learned schience more specifically Physics part as the students had the opportunity to learn series and parallel circuit.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Voltage/volt? Futher learning from electricity. For example if the voltage is 12 how much voltage will go across series resistance vs parallel. H0wever Power it up learning is good enough for year 5 - 8 students

Our group of young scientists have taken the knowledge learnt through the Power it up kit and applied it to other areas of the curriculum. I have taken several pictures when the students were doing the booklet. The students were highly motivated and engaged with the story scenarios as they were eager to achieve the booklet and become a problem solver themselves. At the beginning I have created the powerpoint slides to inform the students what electricity and how it flows between the circuits. I was surprised by the fact that we use electricity nearly everyday of our lives but the students do not know much about the components. Students were amazed by the simple circuit that is the fundamental element of how we can use electricity and use them in our daily lives. I think the demonstration with the video of the School Kit Team helped the students to understand the concept of a circuit and the electricity. Furthermore the students have developed more understanding of the different types of the circuits series and parallel. We even went further by explaining what are the pros and cons things about these two circuits. As we identify the objects of what is a series in real life situations for example Christmas decoration lights are series circuits as if one breaks all the others would not work. Also with the parallel circuit we have identified that the lights we are using in our classroom are parallel as if one of the lights goes out the other light will remain. While listening to the podcast the students have gathered information about the fundamental elements of electricity. The students wrote down some interesting facts. Most of the students were writing the important terms such as protons, electrons and neutrons. By the end of the podcast session students were more motivated to know about electricity and enable their thoughts toward electricity in an extended context rather than the norm. I was surprised by how students were very engaged with the podcast and made them think more about the normal electricity activities that they use in their daily lives. After this session that was the end of our theory of electricity. Students were always wondering what was inside the package box the Schoolkit had sent us and I said that this is a surprise and when I finally showed the students what was inside they were very excited as they were wanting to become young electrical scientists or engineers. The story of the book really resonated with us as our school was located at Pukekohe and the first part where Pokeno ice cream and then the Manukau road and Custom street traffic light part really got our students motivated to get the circuit working. When the students were designing their own circuit design they were very engaged with this task as they were becoming more creative and enabling what kind of components they can design and make their own circuit to work. The students had their own agency from these tasks to do and also gave their design to other students to create themselves. When the students had finished their Power it up booklet they took it home as they were desperately wanting to show their work to their family. There was one spare book for myself to do. I enjoyed myself completing each picture scene . Also at the back of the booklet there were some informative safety guidelines that the student’s household can be read and cautious about. The students were surprised about the fact not to put knives in the toaster where that was a common thing in their household. Finishing the booklet helped the students to develop more critical thinking about electricity. It also informs parents to talk to their child about safety. It provides a checklist to help the family to understand the range of things to identify both inside and outside your home. Overall the Power it up Schoolkit has been very great to our students as they have learned the theory and the foundation part of what electricity is all about and this enabled them to put their theory into practice. The planning part of Power it up that Schoolkits have provided each and every student the rich elements of learning. Not just the students but it helps teachers to scaffold the information so that we have the knowledge to teach and learn the students. Thank you School Kit Squad for providing our students to turn stuff into powerful learning experiences and able them to become a young scientist/engineer. Equipment inside the box had everything. More enough resource for students to complete the booklet.

This was great. Our students learnt all about electricity and circuits. It's so good to have a hands on activity for them to apply their new learning too. I will definitely recommend this to other teachers.

All of my students really enjoyed the Power It Up kit. Only 2 students had completed it before at their previous school. They were interested in creating the electrical circuits and learning more about electricity.

The pack and lessons were easy to follow and opened up opportunities for new learning. The only problem we encountered was getting the buzzers to work.
