How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Children were able to relate to one another better understanding everyone is different.
We held our kit over until term four as have a composite class (some of which are with us for 2 years in our hub) In the past we have found the end of year niggles due to them just being a little bit 'over each other' are quite time consuming and impact on the way our class interacts in Term 4. The kit (which have used before with a different cohort) was a great way to get the kids to refocus their efforts on their interaction and relationships. They LOVE the playground idea and we sometimes made specific criteria for them to apply (e.g. you have to have quality 1-1 time with someone else, not playing in a group), you need to teach your buddy something new over the lunchbreak. This was cool an really promoted students mixing it u and making deliberate choices to play with a child out of their peer group. We feel we had less issues to deal with and WAY less of those time consuming emails from parents telling us about all the dramas that kids sometimes go home and report. Our kids are really good at talking with us about issues they are having and also supporting each other when there are conflicts.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? The poems and charge station were a great addition to the classroom environment and helped the children to share their emotions.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The kit gave the children a better understanding of how they can approach new children to play with, the stickers gave them the incentive to play with new children, especially children not in their own class.
How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? The children enjoyed the coloured sticker sheet for playing with other children the most, they continued to use this over many weeks and some used this into the next term.

This was a fabulous kit for encouraging children to step out of their comfort zones and work/ play with other children. The resources were fabulous and easy to follow. The children especially loved the play project.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? We loved using the recharge battery and the Play Lunch Project. Both helped us to share our feelings and talk about how we can work and play together in positive and respectful ways.
This kit has proven to be a valuable resource for me starting at a new school in term 4, where the kids had had a very unsettled year.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? Having the topic on top as a discussion point and the visual aids are a reminder to discuss the topic daily.
How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? The stickers and booklets provided an opportunity for me to talk to the children about who they played with and what they learned about that person and themselves. We brainstormed ways to recharge the battery to help those who were a bit depleted.

The respectful relationships kit worked very well for us as it complimented our PB4L lessons. We were able to use all the resources during our daily Hauora time. We would definitely use the resources and ideas again next year.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? The lunchtime playdates and stickers gave children the power to instigate playdates that wouldn't normally happen.
How have the components within the kit influenced the relationships in your classroom community? There are new friendships formed and children who even I didn't think would get along together are waiting for each other to finish their work so they can do activities together now.

How have the components within the kit helped develop your students understanding of what a respectful relationship is? My students have been able to develop their communication skills, they understand that it is ok to disagree as long as everyone is allowed to speak, resolutions have evolved where in the past students have walked away from each other in a grump.
This kit was perfect for my class. Earlier in the year, there were a lot of 'problems' with friendships and relationships out in the playground. Some students said that they had no friends because no one would play with them. A lot of class discussions ensued to try and maintain positivity amongst the students. The arrival of the kit really provided a platform for students to 'restart' and have a clean slate. Probably the biggest draw card for the students was the class battery and the stickers for their individual booklets. Having 'respectful relationships' as what was expected to be seen, heard and felt, the students wanted to learn more and do better with how they interacted with others. It was a bit eye opener for many in the class when two students said that no one had played with them. This initiated a class discussion whereby students then worked in small groups to problems solve a given scenario where a student is left out. This activity allowed for perspective taking and I could see a change in students responses and actions. I was so proud of two boys in the class who actively asked the students who were often left out if they would like to play with them.
