“Loved the play lunch project! It worked fantastically well with my students. So well that they have mustered up a way to keep it going without any more spaces or stickers in their book.”
“Thank you for a super way to start the term back after distance learning. The poem and story really generated some fantastic conversations about what makes a good friend. The sticker books have been a HUGE hit encouraging the children to really think about who they are playing with in the playground and have helped foster new friendships and relationships and encouraged some reluctant children to really step out of their comfort zones and experience positive outcomes. The resources included in this kit made it very easy to pick up and use and have also been used among other classes in our school as well!”
“Thank you so much for creating this kit - we didn't get around to using it fully until after lock down, and the timing couldn't have been better! It is a resource that we will continue to use to a certain degree throughout the year. We have used it in a range of curriculum areas and it has encouraged us to work collaboratively in more instances than before. It has supported our class to appreciate one another, to be more patient and to be more self aware. Other teachers have commented on how cool the kit is and how much it has helped the students in our class. Thank you!”
“This kit has been such perfect timing for me and my class! After lockdown was the ideal time to reset or class environment and there were many anxious and excited students on return. This term school wide was the inquiry topic of 'Friendship and Well being' and so this kit provided the foundation for how I would carry out my unit over this time. In our class we have used the battery and mat to create a charging station area, for when we are feeling like we need a bit of space to calm ourselves away from others. We developed some guidelines for the space and it has been so neat to see students at different times go to the space, looking and trying some of the breathing techniques and calming themselves before heading back to what they were doing. We also talk a lot about 'charging' our own and each others batteries and have enjoyed reflecting on our own feelings and what strategies we can try. Thank you school kit for such an amazing resource! I look forward to continuing to explore and use this kit until the end of this term and beyond!”
“Thank you so much for another awesome kit! We used the Play Lunch sticker books to help us on our mission of being kind to each other. The children loved the visuals of seeing who they had interacted with, and it really motivated them to play with some different children. They loved the recharge station and most still use this as a way to calm down or reset. It has been so good to see children managing themselves in this way, and recognising the emotions they are feeling. Thank you!”
“Great timing with our return from lockdown. We have been charging our own and each others batteries through our actions for the last several weeks and the language and ideas have come through in the playground too. It is great to have a resource focussed on kindness, empathy and taking responsibility for our actions and how they effect others. I have been posing a discussion question each morning which has been very enlightening and great for oral language. We are using the stickers to create a rainbow of kindness and rewarding each other for our kind playground behaviours. Great kit!”
“We started the year working on this topic as I had a group of challenging students. I had hoped that the kit would build on what we had done and provide renewed engagement in the topic. I did find it very difficult to work out how to use most of the kit. We read the story and discussed the ideas within in it. I had the map on the wall and we returned to it often. A lot of the material seemed at a higher level than was appropriate for my children ( years 0-2). The song was too challenging. Lockdown has impacted on the implementation of the programme so not sure what might have happened with out that.”
