How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Students have viewed each other as someone just like them, all in the same boat, shy and unsure at the start of the year. The ice is broken very early in the term and the parents are invited to comment and discuss the topic at home through the postcards and booklets that go home.

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? They have been guided to think of others, to recognise the needs of others and what they can say and do to show respect and have empathy.

Once again, students could understand that they were all going through a tough time together, sharing similar emotions. During zoom catch-up sessions, students already knew something about everybody and had already made that initial contact which reassured them, removing fears and preconceived assumptions.s

How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? Yes! We made sure we took time and worked at the childrens pace. We wanted to create a strong foundation. This unit coupled with the RTLB's Healthy Relationships has been great.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? This was used throughout 2022 and 2023 so Covid for us as a class wasn't a big issue at the time.

“We have continued to use this resource throughout our year. When we need to we refer back to our learning from it. We have used this alongside a unit by our RTLB on Healthy Friends. I will use this again!”

“We enjoyed the swappping of stickers if a student played with another student. That worked well with at the start of the year with new Year 1 and 2's. The other activities were too hard for their age level. But it only takes one idea to grow another idea, so thank you!”

“Upon reviewing the resources in this kit and discussing it with a colleague I found that it was a little high level to meet the needs of my students at the time. I received the kit at the beginning of the year - perhaps the end of the year could be a good time to introduce it when students are a little older, and often at the end of the year they get tired and relationships are strained. Will consider this for 2024.”
