Tamariki had a chance to role play situations in the playground and in the classroom and how different people respond to different situations and how it makes others feel.

“I was unable to use the full exentent of my kit as I ordered it thinking I would be able to use it but it didn't end up fitting with what our school was doing this year. I did love a few of the activities that were quick and easy to pick up and run with. The Charging station was valuable and I used it all year. The activity of finding friends and encouraging pro-social behaviours at break times helped to tamariki to bond and get to know eachother was great also. There were lots of games and activities like roleplays to choose from, some were quick fire easy to run and required a bit of reading and setting up. But all activities looked good and were well worth getting the kit for. I thank you for the opportunity to follow these kits and know that I will use some of the activities to help me set up next year as well.”

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? It got different students interacting with each other which normally doesn't happen on a daily basis. Students became more aware of co-operating with one another, helping each other out and learnt to build resilience.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? It has brought the students together - we are now more of a close-knit classroom. Students have established new friendships and work with different students inside the classroom.

The activities have been good to help my students develop their understanding of a respectful relationship. My students have learnt that they need to consider others views and opinions and not just their own, but also display empathy, say kind things and understand boundaries.
