It took a little bit of patience and practice to not just choose our "friend"for the playground challenge - especially with having "set and specific"areas to play in due to Covid restrictions. But it is so pleasing to see that with perseverance and discus
I really enjoyed doing this kit as part of our unit all about me and creating good friendships. I liked having the links to the videos which the kids really enjoyed. The kids love putting a counter on their battery each morning when they are charged and ready for learning.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Very positively. It's always good to lift the game in the 4th term & this kit provided more reasons to connect with everyone in the room. The different tasks provided reasons to connect that wouldn't have happened otherwise.
How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? We continue to battle absences for invalid reasons. This kit contains ongoing reasons for coming to school, sustaining an activity and interracting with others to complete the project well.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? The idea of recharging the battery was easily understood & activated. We discussed how we manage to be respectful & that it would look different according to with whom we were relating.
Really enjoyed the poster and the kids loved making up stories about the other children in the school yard. We were able to relate real life situations to the poster and it helped students to develop some empathy for others across the term.

The story and the poster The conversation that came from the story dice The class battery and magnets. This was delegated to the students to add and take away magnets. This made them very mindful of their behaviours.
My Year 1 class loved this kit. We were able to tie it in with our school wide concept of Turangawaewae. We discussed how we can have respectful relationships with everyone around us but especially with ourselves. The battery power up was a huge hit as it was such a visual representation on what was happening in our class.

My year 2s and 3s loved participating in the different activities and challenges in this kit. The play lunch project was a hot favourite. I like the discussion cards, my students were able to understand and share their ideas. I like how comprehensive the resources are and how they build on each other. So many additional resources online too!

We found that students entering school this year have struggled a bit socially due to isolation rules and lockdowns. This kit helped them to establish relationships with others.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? Students are able to articulate what respectful relationships look, sound and feel like. There were lots of great discussion starters in this kit.
The positive Relationships Package has been a hit in our classroom. Students are especially enjoying the mat for calming etc. We have been working on a school wide bullying unit so this fitted in well. The playlunch project was great to see how kids are playing and with whom. Everything in the box has been used and was great!

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Alongside Circle Time, this kit helped us get to know each other and build a common language for talking about feelings, charging batteries and how to help ourselves and each other feel better.

We found this kit relevant during covid times and it related to varying emotions and energy levels which relates very well to how we might be feeling during this difficult time. It also gave us some positive language and strategies to help ourselves.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? We have had to break down what respect is, what it looks like in our classroom and how it looks when we are interacting with others.
This was the best kit that I have ever used from School Kit. It fitted perfectly with getting to know ourselves and others, and our Hauora focus of self belief and understanding feeling. The students really enjoyed all the aspects - especially the battery (which we will continue to use!) and the playground project. The students were excited to try new friends and loved making connections to new friends!
