Tamariki are keen to play with others when they feel they are alone. A lot of offers to play with the person who is feeling lonely, perhaps their usual friend is not at school

They learnt about positive relationships are not only important for others and charging others batteries but actually discussing their own battery how they are feeling
I highly recommend the kit. The children enjoyed it- it was relatable and it made children more conscious of the children around them and the relationships.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? As above plus having an understanding about other's emotions helped with empathy within the class.
How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? We used the class battery initially about kindness and then linked it with resilience. This helped keep a settled , well adjusted class.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? We have learnt new ways to invite others to play as well as ways to solve problems. They are much more willing to come up with their own solutions before coming to tell the teacher.

We wanted to get started much earlier in the term but with lots of kids and then teachers away (we are two classrooms working together on the kit) but needed to wait until the majority of the class were back before beginning particularly on the Playlunch

There understanding has increased and helped them to understand how their small actions make people feel. We have also learnt new ways of inviting others to play with us when we see them along.
Students really enjoyed the Play lunch project and we encouraged students to have different friends in their group on a regular basis. This was a bit of a struggle at times with low class numbers, but the kids took it with a smile!

I joined in too. We are going to continue doing this throughout the year so we can build those relationships furthe

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? I definitely feel like we've made wonderful progress as a team this term and I put this down to the focus on Respectful Relationships with each other.
How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? We've been hit quite hard in our class (like so many others). We have stayed connected via video (zoom) with those away from class. We've been able to celebrate together even from a distance and keep connected.

This kit is fantastic for the start of the year. We have focused on feelings and how to express them. The traffic light and 'bridge' youtube as well as the big picture and story about Tim have been excellent.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? Helped build and maintain a positive space
How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? With children being in and out it has been harder for some to build relationships and adjust to having peers around them. The kit helped with ideas and tools to help children in these areas.

How relevant has this kit been with maintaining/establishing/reestablishing classroom relationships during Covid? They seem to be more aware of others and how they might be feeling.
This has been fabulous for class culture at the beginning of the year and also during this term where many tamariki have been away - when they return the playlunch project is helping them to connect with their class again. One challenge - I found it very hard to follow the order of how to do the various tasks etc. We haven't got through all of them yet and I am getting better at it, but it would be great to have a clearer roadmap in the box as the online bit can take you in different directions.

How has this kit influenced your classroom community? We continue to use the class battery. Children seem to show more empathy and can express their feelings in a supportive classroom environment.
How have the components of Respectul Relationships helped develop your student's understanding of what a respectful relationship is? With lots of sickness there have been a number of students away at any one time. Using and re-using this kit has help to reinforce respectful relationships which ties in nicely with our school values.

Really easy to follow resources. My students absolutely loved the battery charging station and idea.

How has the kit helped to develop prosocial behaviours? I am amazed by how the students have taken the information on board and use it in and outside the classroom. Our students are very keen to take care of each other and are getting better at recognising when students may need support

I have seen some students take on more of a caring role with each other. They have really enjoyed the class battery and it is a integral part of our day.
The students love the recharge station, map and the battery. We are looking forward to the Playlunch Project when more return from Iso. This has related well to our Cool School's Term
