In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? The marble activity was great for gauging what the issues were in our class setting. We saw a range of different boundaries within the classroom and these varied a lot between households.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? When we did the decision making template it was really interesting to see the students put themselves in the shoes of the person who was in the wrong. They found this difficult but it was an interesting way to look at the situation.

“I am really glad that I transferred our kit over to Term 1 2021. We have just introduced a new watchdog system into school and alongside that we have been working with students and families to ensure safety online. We really enjoyed how the online / offline scenarios related and required the students to show the same values when faced with different situations. Students enjoyed making links with each other regarding their online and offline boundaries.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? Some of the issues were not relevant, but others were, and were even occurring as we were taking part in the sessions. Some, not all, students were being affected by online behaviours and were good at saying one thing in class and doing the complete oppos

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit Having my own child in this age group made it easier to see what was appropriate, however there needed to be more support material available to lead the sessions. More demonstration around using the resources would have been useful.

“The teacher only information was not clearly separated from the student resources which was confusing. There were some good discussion points, the cards were mostly relevant to my age group.”

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit It was hard to know what the students would bring up, I have had conversations about these things fairly openly in the past, and in the end, nothing daunting came up, but it was still a bit 'unknown' prior to teaching the kit.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? I was surprised at how much the students enjoyed and were engaged in our conversations about moral philosophy!

“This was a good kit! It took a while to get my head around it, but once we started talking about moral philosophy and decision making, my Year 8 students were hooked! It was a great way to start the necessary conversation about how to be safe online and I realised just how many students don't know what to do in challenging situations. The kit was able to help show them how to make decisions and how to process their own decision making.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I was aware of a lot of the issues facing our students on devices. But the kit helped break the concepts down it to small achievable elements.

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? Gave insight to those that took things really seriously and those that were brushing it off Where they brushing it off because they didn't know about it, or the did know and found it uncomfortable.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Most students were willing to discuss what they see online. I was surpised when we talked about passing videos that were sent to them and hoe some students didn't see it as a big issues as they didn't send the original, they were just forwarding.

“Everything is in there and all the instructions are detailed and clear. Kids loved the different coloured marbles part. It was a great conversation started and relevant for all levels from year 7-10.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I was made aware of how many students I had in my class using social media platforms. I also realised how uninformed these students were of the risks and issues that they could face when socially online.

“The kit has very valuable teaching and learning resources in it. I will be continuing to use aspects of the kit in 2021 to support digital safety for next year’s class.”
