What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? They were surprisingly open about what they have seen, and online behaviour. They admitted to a few things that they shouldn't be doing.

“This kit is topical and relevant, and the students were engaged with the content. Nice to have so many 'unplugged' activities for this topic. Interesting and surprising discussions. I would like to use it at the beginning of the year and revisit it later in the year.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? There are a lot more sexualized issues starting much earlier. Pressure to send nudes in Year 8 has already started. Quite often it was the people they know that were putting pressure on them not strangers.

“This kit has been such a good conversation starter for my students. The discussions between them has been very interesting and it is quite scary to see what they get up to online. Every class should do this kit.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? Had a good idea on what the children are seeing and talking about around class/school. Spoke in groups and shared ideas and thoughts about the subjects addressed - was interesting to hear some extra children pop up that have heard/seen things online.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? I was surprised multiple times. The thing that surprised me the most was how many students in my class (mostly 11 year olds) had had a story shared about them online. The discussion around this was very valuable for the whole class

“This school kit is a very topical one. Understanding the digital world and it's impacts is increasingly important for students. As a teacher this kit allowed me to initiate conversations that I wouldn't have known how to start and learn more about challenges that students face. All students in my class were engaged and able to participate in all activities.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I didn't realise how many of my students were working on their devices at home behind closed doors. There were girls sending photos to boys and just general obliviousness to the dangers out there.

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I was unaware of the access that students have to Apps and sites. My students ages range from 9-11 years. They are being exposed to material and abuse and parents are not aware of it.

Parents were comfortable with me delivering the mature content. Many of my students knew too much already, especially the boys.
