Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? No
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? This is an important issue facing our students in this digital world and the resources helped me explain this to the students in a non threatening way and open dialogue and conversation with them about what has happened to them. A surprise was how many st

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit My comfort level was the same as teaching Sexuality and that was fine. Having discussions about porn was a new experience and had to prepare before hand about what I would and wouldn't talk about.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How open they were to talk about what has happened to them online.
This kit was a good way to talk about those things that are becoming quite common with young kids nowadays and their digital footprint. The activities and resources showed the students examples of what has happened in the real world in a non threating way. However, the porn section was quite confronting and some students were withdrawn from the talks.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? It was great how much was there to use. It didn't require much prep outside of planning for it.
Was useful but would be nice to have more of a guide on where to start.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit Because we established a safe environment to share and learn it, we found it fine. Term 4 was a great time for this unit!

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Some of their responses to the situations were slightly off. We talked a lot about being an up-stander rather than a bystander in situations.
Loved the practical activities. Linked well to our Sexuality Education unit we were teaching at the time.

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I was surprised how many of my students believed it was okay to act differently online compared to offline. It was also interesting to find out some of the situations they have faced already.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit Having already done the Keeping Ourselves Safe programme last year, many of these conversations had begun then - this was an effective follow on. I did choose carefully for my Year 5/6 students - we did leave some of the more mature content.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Again, how they believed it was okay to be a different person online. It seemed they come across so many people that act differently which made them think that was normal and acceptable.
This was a great kit that promoted some interesting conversations among my students. I learned more about how they use technology and social platforms and had discussions around the different ways of dealing with tricky situations online.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit It was a comfortable topic to teach. When looking at the offline and online scenarios, they were really engaged and sympathetic towards each other and recognised that someone else may view things differently to them.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The Ring of Gyres was a hit with my class. It was a huge eye opener and it was great to have a physical tool to use.
I loved the materials provided in the kit as well as having the programme available to download from the website. The topics covered gave content and advice for kids on the tools that are available for them if they were in an unsafe situation, online and offline.

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I had previously thought that the children might have not identified the uncomfortable things they had been exposed to, olr that they might have not wanted to share. My class were actually very open and were good at discussing their experiences.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I think there were some parts where I wasn't sure if I play the video for the children or for my own professional knowledge. I found that there was a cross over with our sexuality education unit which meant I could pick from the teachers resource and leav

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? They had a lot of good insight and were happy to share. They were also pretty good at articulating their feelings.
We ended up modifying the kit because we were working through a sexuality education unit and the two kits had some cross over. This kit prompted some great discussion that was relevant to the lives of the children in my class. The voting box was a great idea which allowed self reflection in a safe and anonymous way. I found that some parts of the plan were alittle confusing on first glance, however when I referred to the facebook page and pinterest board I was able to figure it out.

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? Many of the students are very active online, more than I actually thought. This was not limited to common Social Media site such as Facebook, Tik Tok and Instagram. Students were interacting with others through gaming. They had been put in uncomfortable s

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit It was difficult at first. However, a lot of what we discussed was already a part of the children's lives. Parents had spoken to me earlier in the year because they had noticed online behaviours during the Lockdowns they were not comfortable about - this

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Students were quite comfortable talking about the issues and that for many the topic was relevant to them. Also, at first there was a level of immaturity about i.e. that material on the internet was a bit of a joke rather than a serious issue.
This Kit allowed the class the opportunity to discuss issues they were facing online. It pathed the way for some open and frank discussions about what they had experienced online. I was amazed at how deep the children had gone interacting with strangers online and felt the knowledge learned, will help to to stay safer. I liked the emphasis on what the children could do, rather than systems and policies that protected them. These systems are only relevant when the children are in controlled situations (e.g. school) but do not offer protection outside of these environments.

Did your perception of what issues were relevant to your class change? This could be from statements made or the marbles? Yes
In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I think students are a lot more aware of what is going on around them than what I thought. I was surprised that a lot of students said they wouldn't talk to their parents if they were being bullied. I was also surprised at the apparent lack of self worth

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I felt more comfortable delivering the kit with the scenario cards rather than if I was to do a one off conversation as I don't think I would know where to start. This was a great way to break the ice and make the topic less threatening all round. Thank

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? I was surprised at the kids openness discussing certain topics. It makes me a little bit sad that so many students are exposed to and aware of things that really belong in an adult world.
This kit was one of the most interactive kits I have used. The way it was structured gave lots of opportunities for the students to engage as a group. It was all delivered in a non-threatening way and gave me as the teacher a safe way to address some real concerns that our students face. I would love to use this kit again at the start of the year in terms of building relationships between the students using the scenarios relating to being a good friend and how we can deal with certain situations in a positive manner.
