What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Not really as we chat about this stuff all the time. We deal with any issues as a class with Circle Time, where the kids are encouraged to be honest / reflective and leave the discussion in the class after it is finished to move forward.

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? Students were all very aware of all the uncomfortable situations that have been in, and the dangers of social media etc, although they still find it difficult to manage/know what to do

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I realised how out of touch some of the parents were with their child's actions and activities online (despite thinking they were on top of things). Exposure to strangers asking for details and inappropriate content was higher than I thought it would be.

“Was a good resource that opened up honest conversations within the class about the issues students are faced with online and through social media. The class were highly engaged and reflected a lot throughout the use of this kit.”

I was surprised at how many children had a number of social media accounts, the number of them that have their own netflix accounts (not the kids ones) and also how many of them knew a lot about porn. We had just finished a sexuality unit so it flowed on nicely. Also my class all think they are 'mature' with online games and behaviours and are confident to share their thoughts and experiences.

“This came at an excellent time because we had to address a few issues following lockdown and digital citizenship. None of my class had considered the link between online and offline boundaries (past 'if you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't write it').”

“Loved this unit.. Thank you. Some interesting topics and discussion starters. Great to do with year 8 but would be beneficial to do at the beginning of the year/term 2. Thank you for this resource the kids loved it and challenged views, great open discussions.”

“Some difficult situations discussed in a interactive and interesting way. Gave the students opportunity to share their own experiences and ask questions. Helped them understand that everyone has similar experiences and how to handle them.”
