Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I was comfortable talking about it. I was more concerned about getting support from administration and parents! My admin advised me to stay away from certain topics.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? They had a really hard time applying the abstract to the concrete. For example, it was really hard for them to connect with the ring and how it was the same as being on the internet - I had to really guide them into seeing some of the connections. They d

“I thought it was a great idea to have a kit like this available. And I found aspects of the kit really helpful. I enjoyed having the out of line cards and the emotion cards. I felt like a lot of the videos were a bit to complex for my students (year 5 and 6). I also feel like it would be good to get them to do a bit more hands on stuff. A lot of the kit was set up for whole class activities which inevitably leads to a lot of them sitting around without a role the activity.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? The statements made by students were eye opening and at times caught me off guard... utilising the resources like the statement cards and marble activity.

“A great Kit. Really thought provoking for students and teachers alike. With the timing / year that has been 2020, I feel we could have engaged a lot better, but there was still some good learning to be had.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? Students showed a higher level of understanding of online safety and behaviours than I had originally anticipated showing a greater level of maturity. However, they did admit to engaging in activities such as talking to strangers online

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit As the class is Year 5 &; 6 there were some giggles when bringing up subjects such as naked photos but approaching it as a factual subject rather than a taboo subject the giggles quickly subsided. I did not bring up any of the topics that I felt were not

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The access they have to devices and internet

“This kit was an interesting way to approach a subject that is extremely prevalent in the lives of students that may have not be relevant previously. The content was comprehensive and detailed and allowed for suggested activities to be adapted to suit the needs of individual students and classrooms. It allows for teachers to get an insight into what is happening in the digital lives of their students and helping students develop strategies that will help them navigate tricky situations.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? My assumptions did not really change, I was quite aware of where my kids were at. There was a wide range of preceptions and this kit was great at catering for all students.
