In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? They are seeing more than I realised in terms of things that make them uncomfortable. Also, I was made aware of more platforms (like Discord) that are newer and I didn't know about.

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I was made aware of how little they did understand about their own safety and the safety of their friends. They were worried about cyber bullying

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? Children in my classroom have been in compromising and uncomfortable situations online. As a teacher I know children are being exposed to things from a younger age than what I was as a child but the extremes to which children had been in compromising situ

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? I think this kit showed students that there are reasons for every action and that we may not know what those reasons are, but that we must try our best to understand what others are going through.

“This kit was a fun, relevant way of teaching children not only about online safety, but about how we can apply this to real life. What I liked most about this kit is how it exemplified that children are one self, not two (online and offline), which is something children can characteristically do. Creating real life contexts that are typically faced by children in our classrooms made the scenarios and activities engaging for all. In my year 7/8 classroom digital safety and real life safety is extremely topical and I feel most if not all of my students were engaged and learnt well through this unit. Thank you schookit.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Their maturity in dealing with things and the issues they faced. I was also surprised by some of the lack of knowledge around their safety online!

“This resource had a lot of really good information that has helped shaped some interesting conversations in my classroom. We had many online issues that this kit helped to 'solve'. This kit would be so beneficial at the beginning of the year when you are setting up expectations and helping them to keep safe online. I am carrying this programme through until the end of the year as it isn't one of those 'do it and forget about it'. A lot of really rich discussion came out of this kit!”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? My class were already fully aware of the issues relevant to them and how they should handle themselves in various situations. Sadly, some of them can talk the talk but not always walk the walk so hopefully, through serious discussion some of their actions

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How mature they are and how unphased by quite full on some of the situations discussed were.

“Students enjoyed discussing their online and offline presence and began to make the connection that these personalities should be the same. I personally found the lesson plan format hard to follow and understand and when I posted my pictures on the Facebook page I had obviously completed it completely wrong as this is how I had interpreted the vague instructions.”

“Great rresources with lot's of good ideas. It was confusing at times and the lesson overview would be better if it had a stronger lesson sequence as it takes a lot of time to unpack; more teaching ideas and vidoes that can be shown to the kids would be good. I really liked the posters and concpets covered. The marbles is a great way to make decisions with out the pressure of others knowing you vote”
