In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I didn't realise just how many were online and how they had bealry any limits/boundries online at home

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I have a strong class culture that does regular circle times; this made it eaiser to unpack and starting off with boundries and building on, then the cards that were difficult not as intense.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How they didn't have much understanding of situations and how their actions/responce can have a big impact

“Great rresources with lot's of good ideas. It was confusing at times and the lesson overview would be better if it had a stronger lesson sequence as it takes a lot of time to unpack; more teaching ideas and vidoes that can be shown to the kids would be good. I really liked the posters and concpets covered. The marbles is a great way to make decisions with out the pressure of others knowing you vote”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I didn't realise that they have already been exposed (Yr 5/6) to so much. The themes they are aware of are much more complicated than I had anticipated.

“This was an amazing kit. It's so important for teachers to be aware of what their students are doing and the dangers they're exposed to. Then, being able to walk through them and be guided in a safe way across something that is tricky!”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? It really opened my eyes to what is out there in the world and what children as young as Year 4/5 are seeing. I adapted based on needs from the activities and this highly benefitted my class.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? The amount of knowledge and exposure they have had at such a young age.

“I really liked using this kit with my class. The value and rich discussion that came from the activities was fantastic. I would highly recommend this to all teachers and it would be great for all schools to run this programme. It truly opened my eyes as an educator to what knowledge our tamariki have.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How open they were to discuss how online life influences them and their decisions. How many of the kids hide their online life from parents, or parents do not monitor their device or their device time.

“This was an awesome kit to use with our Year 7 class. We had a lot of discussions about what we knew was safe but what we did anyway and where this could lead. Loved the marble system for voting. Lots of students were really thinking about their responses to these questions.”
