My class were hooked with this kit. Particularly the first part where they had to make a mock river and then watching the 2 videos about ocean confetti and the islands of rubbish around the world. They were motivated to make a difference. Our clean up was a big success and some children that were absent on the day were so disappointed that they didn't get to take part. We learned about which rubbish was most prominent in our area - plastic. And discussed what we can do to reduce this waste. Thanks for a fabulous kit to finish off the year with.

This topic was a fantastic one for our students to participate in as it channeled directly into our inquiry topic: How will you shape the oceans of your future? We cleaned up 3 areas within our community: our school grounds, the shared grounds of an apartment complex across the road from our school and a local reserve.

This is a fantastic kit which fittet in well with our school's efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. The students have become very aware of the need to do this and take pride in cleaning up litter around the school. Unfortunately we have not been able to spend much time on it as we were still completing our previous kit, but it has certainly had a huge impact and and raised the students awareness of the negative results of plastic waste and what it is doing to our oceans and precious sea life.

We loved the Sea Cleaners kit! Year 6, 7 and 8 students at Aka Aka School did a practice clean up at school before heading down to the Elbow, a popular reserve near to our school, beside the Waikato River. We were amazed at how much rubbish we found. We shared our experience through our school facebook page, and this got shared to our wider community - we received so many positive comments that we've decided to do a clean up once a term. We found out about what the different recycling numbers meant and were disappointed to see most of our plastic rubbish was not able to be recycled. Our reward was a swim in the river!

Unfortunately we were unable to use this kit how we wanted to as it arrived late. We were however able to integrate into our inquiry and we able to do a bit of a clean up at the beach combined with our beach education day. Great ideas that can be used again with a different class next year. Thanks.

We used this kit with Year 1/2's and did a rubbish clean up around our school and our neighbouring park/stream area. The kit was the perfect resource for Term 4 as we had already had a focus on water science earlier in the year and this fitted well with our sustainability/technology focus. We made the rubbish into posters and wrote letters to all the other classes in our school to help share the message to 'keep our sea rubbish free'. This was my first experience with a school kit and it was great. Will definitely be keeping my eye out for kits for next year. Thank you!

We had a great time using this kit. We decided to clean our local park. However the weather would play ball so we cleaned our shopping centre instead. The cool thing about that was that the public were involved asking us what we were doing. It gave our kids a good chance to share their Learning!!! Thanks
